More on Rally Against Debt+ future plans

Had meant to add this sooner, but had family round Sunday afternoon and last night went to the Freedom Associations' talk after work.

Anyway, for me the most memorable part was when walking to the pub afterwards when a cyclist started to berate us, and how the charity he worked for had had a 20% cut to it's grant. 'You're not a charity then' was our response.

As to the fuss about whether it was a sucess or not, I agree it is annoying 1900 people said would come on Facebook and only 400 or so came, but that seems to be the way events organised online go. Is far easier to click a button saying 'I'm attending' than to actually turn up.

All the speakers were good, and apart from Old Holborn burning the EU flag (which some poor interns had to scrape up the remains of) and the three counter protesters (who had their signs nicked!) was all good humoured and good fun, followed by a long afternoon in the pub- just seen my credit card statement, ouch!

Had a chance to have a good long chat with Chris Mounsey and a load of other LPUK people, Max was especially keen and as the main event was was winding down even went and started giving out leaflets to passersby.

As for the whole LPUK situation I find am kind of tsundere to it at the moment, depending on my mood I either feel what has happened is a crying shame and hope something can be salvaged or the whole thing is fubar'd and a lost cause. I have had some musings for a future direction today was going to post but after reading the latest comments on the site am thinking what's the point again.

As have mentioned once or twice my aim was to get out an promote the ideas I believe in and held build a movement that goes beyond the Westminster circle most think tanks and parties operate in, and to counter the lefties out every Saturday giving out their anti-cuts crap. Over the weekend I joined the Freedom Association and have enquired to them about helping out, and have gotten back in touch with the Taxpayers Alliance (I did some leafleting for them a few years ago prior to joining LPUK.) Though after saying that if the party survives I'd be more than willing to help out doing similar stuff, but for now I can't be arsed with all the crap going on.
